Cycling Association of Lesvos (Po.Sy.Le.) and the Municipality of Mytilene, with the support of the Natural History Museum of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos (LESVOS GEOPARK) and the technical advisor of the race, LESVOS RIDE, are organizing the Get2Gether “AVALANCHE CHALLENGE” MTB for the first time in Lesvos in the area of Amali.
The athletes will start at sea level, cycling to the peak of Amali mountain where the AVALANCHE timing route will start.
All athletes will start together at the start of the timing route at the peak of Amali mountain. There will be enough time for the ahtletes to ”get in a line” before the first path. Of course, overtaking while being in the path will add difficulty to the race but there will be a lot of opportunities to overtake at the dirt roads between the paths.
The finish line will be the starting point of the race, at sea level.
The athletes will start from sea level and head to the top of Mount Amali where after 7 km the timed AVALANCHE route will begin. The finish will be from where we started at sea level after crossing 11 km of downhill trails and forest roads.
The impressive group AVALANCHE start from the top of Mount Amali will give the athletes a lot of time so that by the time they reach the beginning of the trail they will be in a line. Certainly, overtaking on the trails will be difficult and therefore a CHALLENGE but there will be opportunities, with patience, for overtaking at some points on the trails and easier on the forest roads between the trails. The finish will be at the point where we started in the morning at sea level.
SCHEDULE
- On Friday, April 25th, there will be a technical briefing at 20:00. The location will be announced.
- On Saturday, April 26th, free practice from the morning.
- At 16:00, a prologue will be held, at an unknown location, in order to have the correct position of the athletes at the start. The meeting point for the prologue will be announced on Saturday and will be sent by email to all participants.
- On Sunday, April 27th, the start will be at the port of Kratigos at 9:00 in the morning.
